[Joshua truly is a gift from Greagor herself. Dion can tell that stopping was a difficult feat. He knows it, because even now he wants to chase after Joshua's mouth and say to hell with every sentiment about taking it slow. Instead, he sighs and nods — wordless for now as both arms shift. He pulls his partner into an embrace, nestling into his hair as his body tries to both cool itself and slow down.
It doesn't take terribly long before he lets out a deep sigh, then eases back once more.]
You are correct. And I thank you for pointing it out.
[Even now, his cheeks are flushed, and his breath still comes that slightest bit quicker. His smile, though, is as gentle as ever.]
I hope you will forgive my zeal. I could not think of a better way to thank you.
[ That moment to rest and breathe is greatly appreciated, and Joshua will gladly take it. He focuses on his breathing, on things that ground him. The feel of Dion's shirt beneath his fingers. The slight tang of dried sweat that sticks to him from his exercise. The sound of his heart beating in his throat. The taste of him still on his lips.
It relaxes him a little. Not as much as he'd like, but enough that when Dion pulls back, he can smile without it being shaky. ]
And as I forgive yours, I hope that you will forgive mine. Truly, I could have continued for much longer. It is difficult to get enough of you.
[ It will lead to other things eventually. He knows. But for now, kissing Dion like this is exactly what he wants. He lifts a hand, smoothing Dion's hair away from his ear, ]
At risk of sounding inexperienced, kissing you may be one of my favorite things.
The feeling is shared. [Even now, he feels gravity drawing him downward. He still tastes Joshua on his lips, and can't help but yearn for more. Instead, he forces him to take a step back, breathing in deeply as he tries to steady himself. He hates going far from Joshua, but they both probably need the space.]
And I would not judge you your inexperience. Nor do I feel that your words indicate as much. I... find I quite agree.
[He hates to admit it, but with Terence, there had always been a lingering feeling that each kiss might be his last. Fate had felt like a sword dangling over both of their necks. But Joshua, and Clive by extension, had both reminded him that even fate could be fought against.
Now, every kiss felt like another promise of forever.]
But maybe it would be better if I left? Gave you some space.
[Dion you're in your own fucking room you useless gay.]
[ Oh. Dion agrees. The dizziness returns, just slightly, and Joshua lets out a quiet laugh. Perhaps it's the giddiness of it all, of the beginning of a relationship, of something that has a potentially infinite shelf life. He isn't sure.
But whatever it is, it's making them both silly, because Dion's suggestion is absurd. It makes his laugh just a little louder, bordering on a giggle this time. ]
Dion, this is your room.
[ Oh, Founding Flames take him, it just makes him want to kiss the man even more. But no. They must be good. For the sake of taking things slowly. ]
I do not wish for you to leave. On the contrary, I want to spend my time with you. I can behave myself, I promise.
This... [He looks away from Joshua, checking his surroundings. Greagor smite him.] Is my room. You are correct.
[He doesn't even try to make an excuse, or pass it off as a joke. Honestly, he's about ready to leap from the window and run into the woods. He'd stand a better chance, probably.]
Well — [He clears his throat.] I would never ask you to leave. So...
[He shifts away from Joshua and sits upon the bed.]
We could sit and talk. [He doubts they could keep their hands to themselves, though. He stands just as quickly.] Or perhaps a walk? A drink at the bar?
[ He is, indeed, rambling. Joshua can tell that perhaps Dion is... flustered? At least, that's the way it seems.
But it's charming, in a way. To see this side of Dion, the perfectly normal imperfections that you might see on anyone. Dion may be flustered, but all it does is make Joshua's heart clench with such powerful affection, and it's hard to hold anything back.
So, he doesn't. He turns toward his partner, cups his face, and kisses him without a moment of hesitation. It isn't the passionate, urgent kisses from before, nor does it have any touch of tongue whatsoever. It is simply warm, sweet, and impossibly fond. And when Joshua does let it break, he pulls back, looking at this man with so much love in his eyes that he feels fit to burst. ]
Dion. It's all right.
[ He strokes a thumb over Dion's cheek, letting the motion become repetitive, soothing, and huffs out a soft laugh. ]
Can I? [There's a note of amusement in Dion's words, even as he levels Joshua with a nigh sheepish look. He glances at the other man from beneath his lashes, already feeling warmth building anew.]
The longer I spend with you, the less in control I feel. You are... [He trails off, shaking his head. Joshua is indescribable. Alluring. Everything Dion could possibly want. Resisting had only become more difficult over time, the struggle increasing rather than leveling out.
And yet, he wouldn't have it any other way. He leans over and presses a kiss to Joshua's forehead, a quiet assurance that whatever was troubling Dion, it wasn't his fault.]
I... was not entirely disinterested in that walk. Perhaps we might map out a place to plant the Wyvern Tails?
[ The kiss to his forehead makes Joshua hum softly, leaning into it just a little bit and letting his eyes close. It's a mild affection, one that he can soak in without feeling as though he's prolonging the issue, so he does so admittedly a little selfishly. ]
You can. I believe in you, Dion.
[ It's a soft murmur, close as they are, but so full of faith. And if Dion should crumble... Well. He will not crumble alone.
But! With that said, Joshua shifts to take Dion's hands in his own, giving them a gentle squeeze. ]
I would love to. Perhaps we could find somewhere where they won't be a problem.
[The relief he feels at that assurance is indescriable. When words fail, he can only offer a grateful smile to the other man. He reaches for Joshua's hand, and once more chances a kiss to those knuckles, before turning toward the door.]
Shall we, then?
[Some fresh air is bound to do them both some good.]
[ Dion truly is a gentleman. An adorably flustered gentleman, but a gentleman nonetheless. Each and every gentle affection just adds one more tiny crack to the slow and steady foundation they're trying to establish. By the Founder, he's trying. They both are. ]
After you, Your Highness.
[ Joshua gives Dion's hand a firm little squeeze, and follows his lead. ]
